Abercrombie and Fitch Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback
Abercrombie & Fitch (A&F) is an American lifestyle retailer that focuses on casual wear. Its headquarters are in New Albany, Ohio. The company operates two other offshoot brands: Abercrombie Kids and Hollister Co. The company operates 1,049 stores across all three brands.Once known for its sexualized ad campaigns, the company has toned down its imagery and no longer displays nearly nude models in their advertisements. According to then-Chairman Arthur Martinez, these changes were implemented to show that the company is evolving along with its consumers. It is now targeting an older consumer, from ages 21 and up.
Shengy X shared this review "Abercrombie & Fitch prices is ridiculous for something that you can find and have same quality as Walmart. If you love brand names than a&f is for you but if you love prices and quality I highly suggest other places that you can find."

Former Employee - Sales Associate says"Immature and unprofessional management Management is extremely disrespectful towards employees, especially how they talk to them Refuses to hire people who don't "look" a certain way VERY LITTLE PAY No room for growth"
Former Employee - Sales Associate says"Too much is asked of for little in return. Management will do anything to get to the top, even if it means throwing you under the bus."
Former Employee - Lead Brand Representative says"Pay Opportunity for Advancement Managers Discrimination Schedule outside of availability"
Former Employee - Merchant says"Horrible Work Life Balance, High Pressure, Poor Management"
Former Employee - MIT says"As an MIT, if the store manager doesn't train you properly, you will be blamed. If the store manager feels threatened by your potential, they will sabotage your promotion. Store managers are constantly competing with assistant managers which creates a hostile work environment. Racial prejudices still present in the company."
Former Employee - Assistant Store Manager says"Work environment, management, unwilling associates"
Former Employee - Regional Manager says"Unhealthy competitive, company of titles, fake"
Merchandise Processor (Former Employee) says"If you are an excellent worker, with a great work ethic(like myself),the leads will use you to do the lazy, incompetent workers jobs. The lazy get a free ride there. They don't have to do anything. The Supervisors and leads will find the good worker to do their job for them. The lazy workers know this and will purposely not do their job because they know the leads will get me to do the job for them. If you are an immigrant, you will be hired in full time regardless of how incompetent they are. Overall, avoid this place like the plague if you are white and have a great work ethic. They will not hire you in full time.Break roomTerrible hours, lazy co workers, childish leads and supervisors, that dress and act like children."
Manager (Former Employee) says"I worked for this company for 7 years and they threw me out like a piece of garbage over freedom of speech on social media accounts. Repost a meme on your page they don’t like, and you’re done. That’s all it takes. The first 3 years of working for the company was great, but over the years they started expecting too much. They budgeted minimal hours for tasks that made it almost impossible to get done. You would work really hard on something only to find a piece of paper in the printer saying they messed up and it had to be redone and they could not provide hours to do so. Basically they expected managers to be in 10 places doing 10 different things at once. Decent pay, possible bonuses, benefitsStressful environment, no room for growth, bad support system"
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) says"The company is managed well as well as the hours and they respond well to any time off you may need in the case of an emergency. The environment and culture is not very inclusive among the other workers, at least in my experience.Flexible scheduleNon inclusive"
Brand Representative (Current Employee) says"Corporate is cheap and doesn’t want to pay their employees. I don’t recommend them at all if you want to have your royalties increase down the road for working hard. NoneSexist & childish"
Stock Associate/Cashier (Former Employee) says"It was so unorganized the stock room looked very messy every day like there was no end to it . I always had double the work due to others not doing there job properly"
Security Associate (Former Employee) says"Personally I feel this company looks to find ways to throw you under the bus and you can’t trust anyone. The only good part about working here was the campus, but everyone acts like they are so much better than you. I would not recommend working here if you want a good life/work balance."
Brand Representative (Former Employee) says"Pretty much the company just scams its workers... Recently I realized the reason why the age range of the staff members is so young because its cheaper to pay them. They don't CARE whatsoever about the staff and the company is corrupt because they focus only on money, not the wellbeing or the interactions with customers but just focus on sales every day. A&F and Hollister are both under the same company and wouldn't recommend anyone to work for them I am 23 and my time in A&F has been awful and time-wasting I can only say that I have met some amazing people and created strong relationships with my colleagues but apart from that this company needs to be closed down."
Brand Representative (Former Employee) says"The culture of Abercrombie is like middle school. You have to be pretty to work there and if you show up and do not look your best then your entire shift is you getting bullied. There was zero flexibility and if you tried your tasks following would be punishment tasks."
Brand Representative (Former Employee) says"Training managers were lovely but general and store managers we're awful to work with so wouldn't surprise me if training managers soon turned into them. They we're rude and extremely inconsiderate, all they cared about was looking good. There were many occasions myself and / or my fellow associates couldn't come into work due to sickness or family problems and the managers were completely unsympathetic / blunt. They constantly spoke negatively about associates in the stockroom for everybody working to hear. Nothing told to them in confidence remained in confidence, on several occasions peoples personal lives were spoken about carelessly. This job seems convenient as it is a 0 hour contract but really is not worth putting up with the management and everything is overpriced and not even nice.Made life long friends with colleagues.Everything else."
Manager (Former Employee) says"The pay and risk is not worth the pay. You go home stressed every night unless it’s a slow day. Boosters threatened you on a daily basis and upper management don’t care"
Brand Representative (Former Employee) says"I learned a lot about customer service, register, sales, and working in retail. The hardest part of the job was the poor scheduling. The most enjoyable part was making long lasting friendships."
Key Holder Manager (Current Employee) says"Although management was poor and very immature. Doesn’t listen to availability Rude to associates Doesn’t take any sort of help from associates Overall toxic environment for everyoneAssociates were great to work withStore manager was toxic"
Impact Assistant Manager (Former Employee) says"This is the worst company I've ever worked for. I worked tons of overtime with no incentives or a thank you. Please do not apply for this job unless you want to work unfair hours for unfair wages."
Stock Associate (Current Employee) says"The store manager and assistant manager are unprofessional. To work there is depressing because of them. Probably the worst place I've ever worked in, the work is simple yet difficult because of them."
Brand Representative/Sales Associate/Cashier (Former Employee) says"When it comes to Abercrombie and Fitch, it defiently isn't a job placement that I would recommend. Yo are not guaranteed hours, are overworked when you do have hours. One unisex bathroom that is also a supply room (rarely ever cleaned). There is no break rooms, typically a 6 hour shift gains you a 30 minute break, 8hour+ shifts you get 1hour. The microwave and mini fridge are places right by the bathroom door and also never cleaned. Mangers can be really dismissive and rude (not talking to you directly when you are standing right infant of them). Going above and beyond is pointless, you might swell do a half-assed job as managers take credit for your work. You are, back stock, brand rep, cleaner, merchandiser, chaser, inventory, order filler/packer, security , trainer, lighting, loss prevention and more all at the same time while been paid below minimum wage.Majority of the time you'll work with some decent people, dress code is not strictminimum wage, short breaks, no break room, not guaranteed hours, bad management, unhygienic"
Associate (Current Employee) says"the store manager was awful but i think she's gone so it might be better. i was constantly discredited by management. the employees never knew what was going on in the store until after it happened."
Sales Associate (Former Employee) says"Wow, working here was so miserable and probably the worst place to work as a young adult seeking knowledge and independence. One girl and myself were the only ones of color at this location and were always given 4 hour shifts, and 5-6+ hour shifts were given to everyone else. Working here only gave me the ability to gas my car to get to and from work. Managers are so degrading and simply put, racist. They tell you to follow customers of color and stay nearby to keep a close eye. Don't you dare get sick or try to stay home in agonizing pain, managers will give you attitude over the phone. If you're not enrolled in college, you are forgotten because you're not working toward becoming an assistant manager. Shame on us right!"
Sales Associate (Former Employee) says"This is one of the most difficult jobs I’ve ever worked in my life. Certain days I wouldn’t be able to make it home because of my transportation routes they didn’t care at all their exact words were “we don’t care about that we just care about you getting here and working”. After I seen that they didn’t really care for their employees I quit on my own terms and just finished on with school."
Weaver (Former Employee) says"Would not recommend this company to anyone no respect managerment almost non existent have to di to many jobs cant depend on getting a 40 hour week had to go get modt of my filling your job covers half the weaveroom or more was told 8 looms but you run whatever have to continuously start looms wheone goes down you have to pick one up"
Hannah Websper says"I ordered a women’s XS t shirt online which they charged £5 for shipping which is extortionate considering the size and weight of this small light item. It was absolutely huge and then they wanted to charge me another £5 to ship the return!"
Ralph Kent says"A&F online is an object lesson in how to destroy a brand in double-quick time through stupidity.
Ordered some swimming trunks which were described as having a mesh liner. On receiving them found out they actually had a cycling short stitched inside shorts - so giving a feeling of wearing two pairs of shorts at the same time - the last thing you'd want to do when the weather is hot enough to go swimming!
The material of the inner was like lycra and in no way could be referred to as a mesh that you get on swimming trunks which is loose fitting, breathable and lightweight.
Contacted A&F as the item was misdescribed for a refund, was told by 'Christian' that I could return to a shop for a refund. Closest shop is in London, 60 miles away / £40 round trip. And it's closed due to the coronavirus. I pointed this out, to which he wrote back saying, that he'd like to be more helpful but couldn't and they would be charging £9 to return the shorts. I replied to say that was unreasonable - at that point there was no further communication back from A&F.
A&F are trying to operate in contravention of UK Consumer Law. It's pretty shameful. I will obviously never even look at site again. I filed a claim with PayPal which was successful and I was fully refunded - if anyone is determined to buy anything from A&F online then I would suggest you pay with PayPal so they can deal with your dispute on your behalf."
Alan Samuels says"We bought a coat from A&F UK for my daughter. However, when it arrived it was clear that it was completely unsuitable as it is a thin, fashion item, not a proper winter coat. Therefore I made a return using their online form. You are entitled to return items under the Distance Selling laws for a full refund provided you notify them within 14 days of the day after receiving the item and pay the postage yourself. I was surprised to note that on the form they have a European address for returns under these laws, when the item was despatched from a UK address and the returns address for faulty items etc is also a UK address. This seems to be a deliberate attempt to deter people from exercising their legal rights.
Also if you return an item as faulty they charge an administrative fee and do not refund the postage either, neither of which are lawful under the Consumer Rights Act 2016.
I have reported them to Trading Standards but I would advise that you avoid this company."
William J Garner says"Shocking customer service, I paid through paypal which adds the delivery address. Got a confirmation email to a completely different address. Contact them as soon as I got this which was on a Saturday evening so it wasn't like it would get shipped out till Monday so plenty of time. They said it was processed so couldn't do anything.
They told me to contact Royal Mail. As if RM would help as they legally have to deliver it to the address that Abercrombie provided. They couldn't contact them on behalf of Abercrombie.
PayPal gives them the delivery address, luckily this adds buyer protection, but would avoid them completely. Any issues and you won't get your money back.
1st purchase from them and also the last, get better service from budget brands like Primark. Paying all that money and getting terrible customer service is pretty surprising to be honest.
They can keep all their stupid topless, fake pretentious models and avoid dealing with such a poor experience and waste of time. Clearly a foreign call centre who have no escalation process or involvement in the company."
MR Brown says"I already own a good fitting pair of track pants from A&F which needs replacing. I bought two different styles online.
The one style was terribly short on the inside leg and the other pair was too tight in the knees. Both had to be returned.
The delivery lead time was like waiting for the milk train deliveries.
A disappointing experience all round."
Mofr says"My jacket (because of a defect) got swapped 2 times, and when I should receive the new jacket the 3 time - the jacket gotlost in the mail and it is over a month ago.
A & F will not give me the money back or deliver another ???
I can not under any circumstances recommend others to shop there."
Gerard McCardle says"I wasn't blown away by the online service nor did I find any great prices. Just a shop that sells what it sells at (and over) the average price."
